FAQs
No.
Weatherproof Gasket material was purposely designed to be extremely pliable and waterproof. The thickness is approximately 1/16 inch and does not interfere with the power requirements of the connection. When the plug is connected, the Weatherproof Gasket will compress between the male and female plugs allowing the mechanical friction of the connection to hold the shield securely in place.
For loose-fitting plugs, it is recommended that you increase the friction of the connection by slightly pulling apart the two male prongs.
Yes.
The Weatherproof Gaskets and Plug Covers have been used by other customers for many years and make sure that you clean them between uses.
The Weatherproof Plug Cover is a male plug and should always be used in conjunction with a Weatherproof Gasket to terminate the open female end of the power source.
Yes.
Two-pronged plugs omit the rounded ground prong. Our Weatherproof Plug Cover is uniquely designed to easily break-off the ground prong section for use on 2-pronged, female plugs. For the 3-pronged plugs, no alteration to the Weatherproof Plug Cover is required.
No.
The waterproof material for the Weatherproof Gasket remains soft and pliable. This material can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -65 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Weatherproof Plug Cover ground pin will fit through the Weatherproof Gasket. Simply snap off the ground prong from one of the Weatherproof Plug Cover to seal the open hole.
First, double-check all of your connections. Make sure you have a tight seal.
Second, make sure any light strands, extension cords, or other connections you are using are rated for OUTDOOR use. Power cords that are rated for indoor use are not waterproof. Any moisture will cause an indoor power cord or indoor light strands to trip a GFCI.
Third, make sure you are not plugging too many things into the same circuit. If you are tripping a breaker and not just the GFCI, you may have too much current being drawn on a single circuit. If you are having problems with your breakers tripping, we recommend that you try using a different outlet that is not on the same “problem” breaker circuit. If you have re-routed your power cords to a different circuit and you are still tripping breakers, we highly recommend you contact a licensed electrician to help you figure out what and where the problem is.

It is not recommended to use the shields on a wall plate plug. Wall plates tend to have indentions. They are not flat, therefore we cannot guarantee you will get an effective seal. If you are having trouble with water getting into your wall plate plugs, we recommend using an outdoor weatherproofing outlet cover. You can purchase them at any hardware store.

No. Tamper-resistant outlets have internal safety shutters designed to prevent foreign objects from being inserted into the receptacle slots. APlugPro does not interfere with, modify, or bypass those internal mechanisms in any way. It is used outside the receptacle at the cord connection point.
No. GFCI devices monitor electrical current and trip when an imbalance is detected. APlugPro contains no electrical components, makes no electrical connections, and does not affect how a GFCI functions. If a GFCI trips, it is doing exactly what it’s designed to do.
No. APlugPro is not a replacement for any code-required safety device. Weather-resistant receptacles, GFCI protection, and in-use covers are still required where applicable. APlugPro is an accessory designed to help reduce moisture intrusion at the cord-to-cord or cord-to-device connection point.
No. Under federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), a manufacturer cannot automatically void a warranty simply because an external accessory is used—unless they can prove that accessory caused the failure. APlugPro does not alter, modify, or connect electrically to any device or receptacle.
Outdoor connections are vulnerable where extension cords meet devices—especially in rain, snow, humidity, or washdown environments. APlugPro is designed to help create a tighter seal at that connection point, where moisture commonly enters.
Yes. APlugPro does not violate electrical code, does not alter listed devices, and does not defeat required safety features. It is intended to be used alongside existing code-compliant equipment.
